What VPNinja connection method is best for my iOS device?

Tony San -

So you want to know which method of connecting to VPNinja is the best way to connect, right?

It's a good question - and it varies depending on where you are located and what your network allows.

In most cases the simplest and most straight-forward method of connecting to VPNinja is, in our opinion, a PPTP (point-to-point tunnelling protocol) connection method.

PPTP is natively supported on all iOS devices and requires the least amount of trouble to setup. However, PPTP is sometimes blocked by local Wifi routers - especially in office, hotel, and some public connections - such as at an Airport. PPTP uses 128-bit encryption - the same as most online banks - and is snappy and fast.

Our second recommendation would be L2TPL2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol) has a simlar setup to PPTP, is also natively supported on iOS devices, and requires just a few more steps. It's also less likely to be blocked by local Wifi routers. L2TP uses 256-bit encryption - the same as encrypted messaging and/or encrypted-key driven solutions - which makes it more secure than PPTP.

So there you have it. Where you go from here is up to you!
